Suggestion for the making of a trio : take three accomplished musicians, who know each other, but not too well. Add five hours of studio time in New York, and let some fresh air come in. The music then starts to vibrate, and fill up the room, surrounding the musicians. Fold into this organic mix a few "ghost-like" themes to bind the mixture. When the process begins, one has no clear idea what the subject may be, but one has so many things to say to each other that a three voices conversation starts, with hearing, understanding and responding as key words. Sans bruit, but in good taste.
Proposition pour une formule en trio : prenez trois musiciens accomplis, qui se connaissent un peu. Ajoutez-y cinq heures de studio à New York un beau jour et laissez l’air entrer. La musique se met alors à vibrer et circule. Quelques fantômes de thème pour donner parfois du liant à cette mixture organique, sorte de terre glaise malaxée à trois. On ne sait pas au préalable de quoi l’on va parler, mais l’on a tant de choses à se dire ; tout cela avec un respect de la parole donnée et prise qu’il nous semble entendre trois lignes qui marchent ensemble plutôt qu’une rythmique au service d’un soliste. Sans bruit, mais avec goût.
